QRFront’s dedicated app helps front desk and hotel admins catch guest request alerts reliably. Browser tabs alone can mute or delay notifications in the background—so we recommend installing the app on on-site PCs and tablets.

Version 1.0.0

Guests do not need an app. Scanning the in-room QR opens Wi-Fi, requests, and chat in the browser immediately — no App Store install and no guest signup.

Why an app instead of a browser tab?

In Chrome or Edge, a normal browser tab can delay or mute alerts when the window is behind another app, the PC sleeps, or browser policies throttle background work. At a hotel, missing a guest request by even a few seconds hurts service. The QRFront app opens the same Front Desk in a dedicated window so you can leave it in the tray or briefly cover the screen and still receive OS notifications more reliably. That is why we recommend installing the app instead of relying on a plain browser tab alone.

If you still prefer the browser

🔔 To improve background alerts in Chrome, set the following.

1) In Chrome’s address bar, open:

chrome://settings/performance

2) Under “Always keep these sites active” (wording may vary), click Add, then enter:

https://qrfront.com/*

This helps keep the QRFront tab active even when it is behind other tabs or you are watching YouTube, so alerts arrive more reliably. Other browsers (for example Edge) may use different names for performance / keep-awake settings.

Who is it for?

• Hotel admins: sign in with your admin account—same Front Desk, rooms, and settings as the website. • Works on PCs, laptops, phones, and tablets—park one at the desk or carry it while you respond. • Guest requests surface as OS notifications, so you rely less on “who had the browser tab focused.” • Manage concurrent devices under Connection management in the admin console.

Keep alerts ringing — sleep settings

If the PC enters sleep or hibernate, alerts and chimes may not sound. For front-desk machines that stay on all day, keep the PC awake even if the display turns off after a few minutes.

Reduce sleep on Windows

1) Start → Settings → System → Power & battery (Windows 11) or Power & sleep (Windows 10) 2) Screen can turn off after a few minutes, but set “Sleep” / “Put device to sleep” to Never (or a long delay) during shifts 3) On laptops, check Plugged in and On battery separately 4) Also: Settings → System → Notifications — ensure QRFront (or your browser) can notify 5) If group policy forces sleep, ask IT to exclude front-desk PCs

Reduce sleep on macOS

1) Apple menu → System Settings (or System Preferences) → Battery (laptops) / Displays & Sleep (wording may be Sleep or Energy) 2) You can allow the display to turn off; during shifts, turn off or lengthen “Put Mac to sleep automatically” / “Put hard disks to sleep” 3) On laptops, check Power Adapter and Battery profiles separately 4) Notifications: System Settings → Notifications — allow alerts for QRFront or your browser

💡 [How to keep screen awake]: After launching the app, right-click the QRFront icon in the Windows taskbar system tray (next to the clock) or click the menu bar icon on macOS, and check 「Prevent display sleep」 to keep the display always on and prevent sleep mode.

After you install

The first launch opens the usual login screen—allow notification permission when asked. Website updates appear in the app automatically; you do not need to reinstall for every UI change. On Windows, an “unknown publisher” prompt is about code signing, not a damaged file—verify the source, then install.
